My battery has just about given up and looking for a new one on line can anyone tell me the correct Amp hr and cold crank current i need for a battery for a terrano 3.0 03 as the old battery has no markings at all .
Also anyone recommend a good place to buy from as halfrauds want £106 and on line they are about £70.

The battery I removed from my 3.0 was rated 100AH 680A CCA.
Though I replaced it with an Optima red top rated at 50AH 900A CCA, its certainly a lot keener to spin over when its -10 outside.

Don't scrimp on a battery, for the few extra quid it isn't worth it cos it will fall over when you need it most.

around 80-90Ah and in the region of 800 - 900 cranking amps is just fine.

Don't buy a leisure battery though, they might look cheaper but are intended for auxilliary use and their charging cycle is very different to a starter battery.

Less Ah means the battery won't last as long in a heavy drain scenario (e.g. difficult starting) while more cranking amps mean a livelier start when it IS working. Its a balance between the two against price.

Re Varta battery,
I guess I will be in the market for a new battery soon,
Does this one also clamp at the base, looking at the picture it does?
Regards, Richard

the one i've got like that certainly does....

Well the battery is still going, but I expect it will suffer when left in the cold soon.

I currently have a Platinum Prestige type 334P 850 CCA and 95Ah.
This has proven to be one of the best batteries I have used. At least 5 yrs.

I can't seem to source this one, I have found Numax 250 H with only 730CCA for £78.64 not enough umph...

The Varta one looks closest to my criteria but close to £100, are there any alternatives?
I found a Bosch one on ebay just under £100

It seems the model number is 250/334 and needs to be a bottom clamp.

best regards,
Rustic
