Battery Cable Replacement

I need to get my truck back on the road asap and have been advised about upgrading the wiring to the battery.I need a fix for now before but only cable i can get locally is a 300amp one and its the one that runs from the battery to the starter.So is that safe to use for now :nenau

Your local welding supply shop should be able to make up a cable with professionally crimped lugs on the ends.
I'd suggest cable with a CSA in the region of 50mm2.
In any event a cable rated at 300A is probably going to be sufficient as the starting current is of short duration and the cable will be not be of any great length.
