Hi all
Is this filter in every 2,7 TDI ?
Mine is year 2000 Terrano
Is it ok to throw the filter ?
Hewe someone some story about this ?
I have the article from the download center

gazz,

There is a possibility you will have a filter but not as in the download, if you have one it will be built in to the banjo bolt and not in the pump under a spring, mine didn’t have one, but I have a replacement pump that has one in the banjo bolt. You wont know for sure until you have a look.

Ok
where do I look for it in mine ?
I do not know what banjo bolt is, sorry about the stupidness

A banjo bolt is the bolt that goes through a banjo fitting on the end of a pipe, it has a hole drilled through it vertically and horizontally to allow the fuel to flow through it

If there is a filter there, it will be in the banjo bolt the same as the one you would remove in the download to get to the mini filter.
You should be able to see it on the front / top of the injection pump as you look at it from the front, all you have to do is to remove the bolt and examine it, it will be evident on inspection if there is a gauze in it or not.

Be careful when replacing the banjo bolt that you thread it back in squarely and to not cross thread it

I will email you a picture to try to explain.

Sorry to butt in, but I too am a bit confused. I gathered from previous posts that this filter was only on the earlier non TDI vehicles, could you clear this up for me? if my 99 tdi might have this banjo bolt could I also have a pic emailed? thanks in advance :p

I have sent you an email,

As I have stated, there is a possibility you have gauze filter built in to the banjo bolt, my original pump didn’t have one but the replacement one I have, has one in and other members have reported finding one.

The only way you will know, is to remove the banjo bolt and inspect it.

there was no filter or spring under the banjo bolt in my Terrano
I am all stuck here regarding the misfiring when cold and on highway driving
I have new glow plugs and new fuel filter.
When I say misfiring the car acts like it does not run on every cylender ( about 15 sec after start cold ) and now it is acting up ( missing out silender on highvay driving )
any ideas ?
Please sorry about the spelling

I take it there's no fault light on or has been on?

Mine run funny it was the crank sensor which is done for, made it die sometimes then rev up others just unplugged it till my bank manager dies and loses all records of my debts so i can afford to get 1.

have u tested glowplugs operation? are they getting juice on cold start up? im under the impression a stat dictates when they should be called for could this be at fault and not calling for the plugs?

Ryan

For it to be missing on highway driving, this would suggest the engine is warm anyway, so you can probably rule out glowplugs.
Could it be an injector problem ? Try and isolate which cylinder it is miss-firing on , and check the injector on that cylinder before moving on to other possibilities .
Matt.
