Bad week

Well Thank F88k tomorrows Friday I've had one hell of a sh1t week.

First my lads been diagnosed with ADHD and now I need a new gear box in the Terrano and just been quoted £2500 +

if you really HAVE got an autobox, that price is about par for the course I'm afraid. They are very rare - a rebuild costs at least £1500 (ask me!), but they tend not to fail. The 3.0 must be a beefier auto than the 2.7 I'd have thought because the latters towing capacity is already seriously compromised by the autobox, just a bit over half what the manual will tow (1700kg versus 3000 kg from memory) - so can't see the logic in sticking the same box on an even bigger engine (25-30 bhp more)....

Whats the problem with it?

well in all honesty, you've either got to find an auto expert and get it rebuilt (which you won't get done for les than £1500 at the lowest), or swallow the price of a replacement. I'm sure HonestJohn used to recommend a couple of good places.....

Sorry to here of your problems Terranoman, But dont forget about the member "Gearboxman" specialist in gear boxes and only in Brum too, so not to far away.
