as the title suggests I noticed today I have alot of play in the wheels.

My wheel spacers have been fitted and all is A ok.

Whilst jacking up the nearside (with offside firmly on ground) i went to spin the wheel to see if it was in the air, and noticed there was left and right travel of the wheel (whilst the other remained stationary)

As far as he can tell by only having a min to take a look he thinks there must be a perished bush.

Has anyone has this issue before? and if so whats the fix? ive got a big laning day sunday and id be thrilled if I could fix this before hand. :bow :bow :bow

Saying that, its obviously been knackered for ages....

that's what is creaking on mine at the moment...!

As said if you run anything bigger than 30/31s you will need stronger steering!!! :doh

The play could be from the idler:thumbs but i'd also check the track rod ends, drag link & the hub bearings

uprated steering is needed my boy also ya track rod ends are probably a bit the worse for wear

As I said, spacers will exagerate any wear on the components etc.
no surprises then.:augie

Looking at track rod videos this is only up n down play no? :nenau

My play is left to right?

Might be noobie alert time again :augie

On previous threads I remember reading 33+ will need uprated steering. :nenau

No, mine went sloppy from running 31s

Anyway it's not an exact science, It's the tyres that have worn it out quicker, Might have lasted a bit longer on standard size tyres.

Track rod play is left to right & you'll be able to see any play in the track rod end:thumb2 hub bearing play can normally be felt as up/down play but at times side to side

Yep.. play in track rod end is all the way around, up down, left right, in out, and all combinations...:thumb2

I've always said the idlers are made of chocolate. Bin it . In the mean time bushes are cheap and a quick job to do :thumbs
As said above it could also be track rod ends and or wheel bearings.
now you've got those aldi spacers on they'll all need doing very soon :lol
Jack it up and check the wheel again in the up and down mode. then again side to side. Get a mate to look and see if it's the idler or the TRE . It could also be the drag link etc . Look and see butt ;)

I ended up having the NS Idler, Centre Drag Link and both complete Track Rods. Mines a box standard truck. On the Brightside the Idler and Track Rods all have grease nipples on from Milners.

I hope it's just your wheel bearing that needs a bit of adjustment as it's an easy job & costs nothing

Actually when I went out I met our workshop Forman walking his dog and I was quizzing him, he said "did you not listen" :augie

The mechanic told me it was the idler arm apparently :thumb2

What do I do to get one/bush ASAP?

And what issues do I face if I do my laning with it like this?

Do not worry about it it will not fall off, just get the plastic bushes and we will fit them on Sat, Rick
