engine turns over brill but wont catch first time.filters all ok. could it be the injectors? can i take them out and clean them? ive used injector cleaner in the fuel buy dont know if its effective, merry xmas and happy new year to all:thumbs:thumbs

It's turning over fast enough then try leaving the ignition on for a while longer after glow light goes out before cranking it over. The glow plugs carry on heating on and off after the light goes out.

Do several cycles of the glow plug/start routine without cranking it over :thumb2 the instructions on mine actually tell me to do that when its well cold, doesnt actually say "well cold" in the manual but you know what I mean

might seem silly but are you sure all of your glow plugs are working?

all new plugs etc. when she does catch it sounds like shes missing as in petrol and needs hand throttle to keep ticking over until warm

That sounds more like air in the fuel system. Next time you go to start her, pump the fuel primer until you get added resistance in the hand pump, then try turning her over. :thumbs

Also check the valve clearances - sounds like low compressions, especially on one cylinder to me- clearances too tight ?

Check the obvious first though- as someone said- air leaks in fuel system- the metal pipes love to rot through by the tank...

Just my 2p, given my truck will start happily with only mimimal glowing.

see i told you my ideas were silly! but while i am making suggestions, have you checked the mini (banjo) filter? probably nothing to do with it, but worth a check while you have the spanners out.
