Back dooor does not lock

One of the few jobs that needs doing is my back door wont lock, I will be having a look over the weekend, is this a common Terrano problem ? anything I should look out for ?

No age of vehicle stated in your profile.
Does it have the earlier lock barrel or later handle without?
My central locking locks all doors but does not unlock any on the fob, and did nothing with the rear door (later version without key barrel).
I've retrofitted an earlier key barrel handle (thanks to cncfabs) and also cut the wiring to the rear door in the boot area and fitted a manual switch on the dash to control the rear door motor.

It closes properly just doesent lock, I will have a look for the possible defects listed by Solarman, thanks.

We had this recently, it has two closing positions, the first one only just catches, so check if you have the first position, and then check how far the door has gone in on the second position.

If you only have one position, then adjust the catch on the body outwards a few mm :thumb2
