no rick , I just know a few things , I cant hope to compare with you my friend :thumb2 ...... happy easter to you both too

Hi Pete, you know quite a lot. The important part is that when you say something like this, we listen, since you don't chip in with cr*p guesses at any other time, or throw red herrings in.
I would say that you know loads about the Automatic gearbox on these trucks, from all your past experience, and the forum is a better place for it too.:thumb2
Take care, have a great Easter.

autobox

Hi again

with reference to my comment above about the autobox ECU it did not throw out a fault code.

The ECU is also (on a Mistral anyway ) is plug and play with no reprogramming.

Rayf 3262 is the main man on this stuff as he helped me no end with my gearbox electronic problem

Briggie is also spot on - top man

good luck paulp

Had the jeep on a long run last night down the motorway about 30miles. As soon as I was picking up speed the revs we're going between 2000 to 2500 spiking. So I backed off the accelerator and all went back to normal. I hit 70mph the revs were sitting roughly 2500, it did not happen again. It only seems to happen on the initial take off. I had lamp on it today and all is ok there. There is current going to solonoid. How do I power up the solonoid to hear how good it is from under the car. Happy holidays to u good folks

Hi. Have been watching this post with interest as I have an auto. I don't think it'll be the overdrive switching in and out as I'm sure the increase in revs would be a lot more than 500rpm. Although I haven't tried it, but I will next time I'm out.

Yes u are right. It's a strange one. This is my second auto. The first one went and by God when it starts to pack up it packs up. So it was cheaper to get another one. All is good with this one except for that damn spiking. So next thing for me is to wait on finding out how to power the solonoid. And top up the tranny fluid. Failing that it will be a fluid change which I don't want to do as it's the Color it shod be. Could it be the kick down switch sticking as I accelerate? Or solonoid or torque convertor clutch slip or bands needing tightened.? Only does it when I go over 60mph to 70mph. There are roads in Dundee that are 50mph and it never spikes.

id start with the simple stuff first .......take a look at the atf .... should be a nice cherry red colour and not smell burnt ...... if in doubt change it , drive a hundred miles or so and change it again.

there is also a filter in the bottom of the a/t box .... quite a bistid to get to , but can be filled with swarf etc.

like I said try the simple stuff first ....... if in doubt change the atf and ensure its the correct level DONT OVERFILL ... or UNDERFILL

If I recall, from other threads, you can only get half of the fluid out.
So one change = 50% new
Second change, after a drive... will give you 75% new.

Thanks for that. But still have to find out about solonoid. If I'm giving it a oil change im just aswell powering up the solonoid if I'm to take off valve cover
