Doing an oil change on my Auto gearbox tonight, just a little concerned about refilling. Is the only way to fill it through the level dipstick hole?
Thank you in advance.

If it's anything like the manual i watched rick own it in like 5 minutes :lol

it is awkward ...... good idea to use a funnel with a piece of tube attached that fits snugly over the filler pipe .....DONT OVERFILL

Will be measuring what comes out and replacing accordingly. Thanks biggie was going to fit a pipe Inside the tube, your way sounds far quicker

Just fill slowly as you might get air rushing back up the tube if you fill to fast & spitting oil everywhere:doh

You cant overfill anyway can you? I thought it gushes out once you not the level. :nenau

I measured out the oil and put it into a pump up sprayer. Took the spray end off a put the hose down the filler tube.

Remember you leave about 2 or 3 litres in the box which can not be drained out!

I'm needing to change the box oil on my 04 3ltr auto but is there any filters to clean or replace?

yes you can overfill easily  . read the dipstick when filling

Be careful as if you overfill it might overrun like Terranomans did, in which case you'll need to block the air intake to stall it

Easy for me as I just chuck a rag over the snorkel :sly

Does anyone know how many litres they need?

Having a struggle finding anyone to supply me with gearbox oil for my 3ltr terrano. Comma doesn't list anything and my local motor factors haven't a clue! What do you guys recommend......

It's called ATF fluid and any good motor factors should stock it.
Need to do mine when I give it a service.will have a look at what I put in last time and let you know:thumbs

I used Granville ATF universal.
Exceeds specifications : dextron II,DB 236-7,Voith,Allison C4,Ford M2C 166 H.
Cost me £17.99 for 5 ltrs.
I bought 7 ltrs but only got just over 5 ltrs out as it holds it in the torque converter.

I did mine last week, drained the sump and got approx 4 litres out. Refilled, went for a drive to mix the new with the old (in the torque convertor), then did the same again (but not a full second drain). So in the end used a little over 7 litres for an approx 2/3rd oil change.
