Auto free wheeling hubs
Auto hubs lock and unlock in both directions ,so if you stuck in forward motion select reverse ease clutch up let drive shaft rotate backwards through unlock then it will select lock in reverse gear.
(you can duplicate this by selecting 4 wheel drive then driving forward a few yards then stop get underneath and turn drive shaft backwards it will unlock then lock in reverse if you turn it far enough .
This is a good way to check auto hubs are working when going to buy a terrano/maverick.)
THE DAMAGE TO THESE HUBS IS DONE WHEN YOU BOOT IT BEFORE HUBS HAVE ENGAGED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION .
Something gives usually a brakeband will chip or snap.
