Can someone recommend a auto darkening welding mask please. Someone posted an ebay link to one theyve used but cant remember who it was, only a few weeks ago tho.
Ive looked on fleabay but theres loads of them.

I have one and rarely use it, problem is on bench work where everything is easy and clean no problem, but under motor with all that it entails, I find it switches off and on far too much due to inconsistent arc and or obstacles getting in the way of the photo cell, which is not your view point, and arc eye was looming its nasty head, so my advice is for car work stay clear, Rick

Ok I have a standard welding mask I have used for Arc welding, will that be ok because someone once told me that mine would be too dark for mig welding?

I've never had those issues, yes gets in the way in tight spaces but any mask would.

currently I use a dark glass with a small surround, max 8 inches wide 6 inches high, cos I am a glasses guy for close up I need to get in close to focus, so this suites me fine, Rick

Get a auto one mate, loads easier when your a novice welder, basically you can see what you doing! I paid about £30 for mine, cheap and cheerful for the amount of welding you will be doing :thumb2

Having burnt thousands of rods out. migged and tig welded the only auto shade i would recommend is the speedglas, you can even gas weld and burn with it quite pricey but well worth the money. It used a couple of coin cell batteries that last for ages.

Try a speed glass welding screen . Mine is a multi shade type I got it from snap on tools . Won't be with out it !!! Yes it was expensive but u pay for what u get .
