sure was the patrol had a new mot too he was shocked when i said i would not buy it as i said that it should not have passed any mot with the sills that bad and right by the body mount and i did not trust the mot on due to finding this out turns out the garage next door did the mot i asked him to have mot at a different garage he refused so we will say no more other than i would not buy anything from them someone will get stung with it as he is getting them welded but i am now the owner of a 2003 3ltr terrano 113000 miles which has had a recon gearbox and clutch last year and a new recon turbo january this year and for the mot in febuary it had new discs and pads too from the looks of it quite rust free the sills have no holes either yet:lol seat belt mounts in tact and clean have a few jobs to do but nothing major rear prop or front is got a small vibration drivers seat could do with a new one but in all very clean and survived a drive from yorkshire back home 169 miles and it also had a full tank of diesel too service history even the nissan sales brochures and receipts etc nice when repairs can be backed up not just what the seller says :clap whilst i was up i looked at a 55 plate 3 litre what a shed it was it had welding done on the seat belt mounts not the best welding i have seen also front wings rusting both inner front wings were totaly shot i mean not even connected to the bulk head and i was not sure how the battery had not gone through i pushed on a bit by it and my finger went straight through looked nice all polished up gleaming i just dont see how something can rust that bad in a short time compared to some ones that are a lot older and not that bad my 1999 when i sold it only had the nearside sill patched nothing else well no on to cleaning and going through to see what needs to be done :doh

Gearbox issues with automatic Terrano.

hi i have seen a terrano with auto box just seeing if anyone has had bad experiences with one etc the vehicle i am pondering over is a 54 plate 125000 on the clock only had a mistral auto before but cant seem to remember what is was like old age setting in :nenau

You can learn a lot from the colour & smell of the ATF when you check it with the dipstick. We had no problems with the transmission on our old r3mR but on one six monthly check of the dipstick the fluid fluid was grey due to water ingress instead of a nice clear pink. Did a series of fluid changes- no problems with the gearbox afterwards but a fluid change every 12 months became routine.

the one i just bought is a manual box just ordered clutch pedal bush kit then when it arrives will look at prop uj's to sort out vibration that way will only get dirty once lol

the interior is beige leather interior seat leather is good except for a bit of cracking to leater bolster drivers side is worn a bit but no worn holes

my quest was to aquire a 2.7 td i rang about one at a used car dealer in yorkshire a 55 plate in so called great condition it was along way from me but i was assured it was as good as it looked online but when i got there it was a total shed it looked all nice and shiny in black but already had the seat belt mounts welded the sills were gone both front inner wings was shot drivers side was not even connected to the bulk due to rust not sure what was holding the battery in as i pushed the wing by the battery and i went straight threw passengers side was same he wanted £2495 i said he would be better selling as spares as not even worth repairing also i did not see how it could have a mot with 10 month remaning its still on auto trader he said i was being fussy and it will sell

so after going all that way i found a 2003 3 litre nearby with no serious rust just some surface rust i poked around but found no holes etc seat belt mounts solid had a load of service history it had a recon gearbox in 2016 with a new clutch receipt with it also has a new turbo fitted and a full tank of diesel needs a few minor jobs doing to it but it is a solid tidy looking motor drove it home no problem
has a vibration i suspect is a prop u j radio has the lcd radio display problem and needs clutch pedal bush fixing which i have ordered feb 2019 mot


but i was looking online on monday morning and a tidy 2.7 td lwb sport 2004 was on there cheap checked the mot history no failure due to rust spoke to the guy oldish gentleman and arranged to buy it on saturday on condition it is as stated it has 4 new tyres etc and has no rust issues i do prefer the 2.7td engine one thing i have learned is when you have a good terrano do not sell it like i did as replacing it is a lot of hassle regret selling my old 1999 one now the neighbor asked me today if i was going to open a car sales lot :lol
