I have a 2001 automatic terrano 2.7tdi with 84,000 on clock, when the engine is cold i dont seem to have a problem with the box its when it gets up to normal temp, at the lights if i change from D to N or P the revs will drop to the point of almost stalling then picks its self up again?? Any ideas??
Cheers
Dave

Mine does the same every now and then:nenau
Mainly when I put it into drive from park.

check atf level and condition ..... it should be a nice cherry red colour :thumb2

also , if you have a hand throttle .....check its not fully pushed in

Mines a zexel pump set up.
First thing I did was check the ATF fluid level and condition when mine first did it.
Don't happen very often on mine, maybe once a month if that.

Fluid looks red to be honest and within the limits when hot... im not sure on the make of the pump, were is it? Lol looks a right b1tch to change fluid! Do you have to pour it in via the dipstick?

Yep you fill through the dipstick.
I bought a funnel with a flexible neck to make it a bit easier.
Have a look on your maf sensor on the pipe from the air filter box. It will be either bosch or Hitachi. Bosch is bosch pump and Hitachi is zexel.

Cheers fellas il check it out tomorrow and let you now what pump, what is the difference between them both?

I have two manual motors with Zexel, both suffer on odd times with low idle revs, I have not proven it yet but think it is to do with the throttle pedal assembly, certainly on the road going one I can reach almost 1100 revs with the throttle closed switch still closed, problem is the back is giving gip at the mo so find it hard to get under and see what can be done about it, the Mrs motor on the other hand with Bosch never misses a beat and has much more power and better consumption, Rick

Mine does idle a bit slow, only just over 600 rpm.
On my old zexel set up one I tweaked the stop on the pedal to get the idle speed back up to around 700 rpm.
On the later ones it's enclosed so can't do it.

on mine there is a micro switch and a steel cable with no adjustment that I can see, so as usual there seem to be differences, Rick

If you can see the cable then you can get a bit of adjustment by loosing the two screws that hold the spool and turning it slightly.

thanks elty, when I can get down there I will have a go, but it does not bother me at the mo so can put up with it for a while, Rick
