Attaching a Hi Lift Jack to Maverick

You know how the Landies have them attached to the rear wheels

Is there any easy and secure way to attach them to the Maverick/Terrano's?

Ideally it's better to store it inside as muck, water and dust will get into the workings. They are pretty dangerous to use at the best of times.

You could easily make a mount to secure them the same way they do on the back if that's whats wanted.

I was looking at that on a Landrover the other day, but could not see an easy way to do it on my Terrano, as he used the wheel nuts on the spare wheel carrier to hold a bracket on, but I have a spare wheel cover, so that is not an option.

I think I will make a way to put mine up on the roof bars, using a couple of "anti-looses" that slot through the jacking holes to make it easy to put on and take off.

I got a couple of "Hi-Lift" mates off of Ebay the other day, love the way they work, but I need to make a way to be able to slip that on and off the Hi-Lift foot, with out a spanner as well, as I would not want that rattling around on the roof.

To mount onto the spare wheel you would have to ditch your spare wheel cover & make up a strong mount. I was going to mount one onto the side of the roofrack on my last T2 but their not light to lift down:augie I ended up not getting one due to having no where on a T2 where I could lift it:doh

Sadly I can't weld & don't have the gear to bend steel plus can't work out a template for you as i've got 17" wheels & it's a no go with them:doh

If you must carry a wheel on your door then you can do that too, though you may need to space the wheel off the carrier a bit

You can get a Lift Mate, and it gives you 2 hooks which hook onto your wheels, and creates a lift point there... Perfect, as you directly lift the stuck wheel.

Yes the lift mate works good here but you'll need to carry an axle stand if you want to use the hi lift jack to change a wheel:augie I'm hoping to have a set of rock sliders made up in the new year with poss hi lift jack points built in

Right I've brought the jack however I have now dented my sill trying to test it right by where the front mud flap is

You can't unless you lift with wheel attachment or start making strong hi lift jacking points:doh have seen a pic on a forum where they have been made for the rear
