not a major issue here, but I seem to keep dethreading my nuts.

I bought a load of spares from MakeIt and these are coming in handy, but why are they de threading so easily? Is it the way im putting them on, or is it the hub bolts? hubs look fine TBH, maybe the ends are slightly damaged from previous issues? some nuts I can fit on nice and tight, but like yesterday, take them off and i dethread them! I dont have enough nuts to experiment-everything is fine now, but just wanted to know if this is common or not?

If you are talking of the chrome plated brass nuts then yes the studs are a lot harder than the brass and if the ends have a small ding on one or two, then the brass thread does not last long, the thing to do is remove the wheel so you can see the ends of the studs clearly and take a new/good nut and try starting it with fingers only on each stud, any that you cannot do two or three turns easily need looking at and a fine file taking to it to remove the offending bur, Rick

Aquick squirt with WD40 always helps clean them to and easier for some finger action as Rick says :thumbs

you really should stop playing with your nuts clive , you may go blind :augie

thanks for the replys chaps. Rick/MakeIt, Ill do as you suggest I never thought of that, I reckon as Rick suggests the ends may need a little bit of filing.

I dont use a torque wrench on the nuts, and my Impact Wrench doesnt fit as the socket isnt long enough, so I just use a regular tyre bar.
