It's just flagged up on my laptop that I can now get Windows 10:rolleyes: is anyone using it yet & is it any good or am I better off stopping with windows & for now:nenau

Its still only pre release versions. Ive stuck pre release versions on an old laptop and they seemed fine. When Windows 10 comes out properly youll be able to upgrade Windows 7 and 8 for free!

Personally I would wait until full version is released later this year.

Oh right thought it was the full version due to it showing up for the first time at the bottom of my screen in the icons bit:confused:
Just had a look about on the net it's the end of July when the full version is released

It is only a reservation of Win 10.That is to be released later this year..

been using it for nearly a year now with work (we are Microsoft Partners and do testing).

Currently on the latest build, and I have to say I really like it. Its very much grown on me. Its snappy, stylish, very customizable and seems to have a never ending hardware support list (everything i plug in works).

As it is a reservation for a free copy, you'd be nuts not to take it. Its a vast improvement over Windows 8.1, gone is the stupid Metro screen THOUGH you can still have it if you want its just no longer in your face by default.

So all I can say is its much better than 8.1, its slick, fast, snappy, good looking and not overly resource hungry. The only odd thing you may find is the new browser Project Spartan (current name). This is actually very fast, and its like a really simplified Internet Explorer, but closer to Chrome in looks and features, its very good but currently quirky...!

I've setup a basic PC system with an SSD and Windows 10, boot time is a little over 6 seconds on that system....that's on an old Dell system too...

Just come up on mine too, so I've accepted it. Apparently it will download automatically when it's ready, I can choose to use it or not (and it's FREE!)

Yeah it happened to me now too on my laptop. It's a small white windows logo down by the clock and when you click on it you get the picture below. As said just a reservation for it basically.

My new lappy is running 8.64 but if I am lucky enough to be flagged for 10 based on clivvy's report I will go for it, Rick

re jims terrano post, I have said icon and clicked on it, can this be real, 10 for nowt, very unlike microsoft, can this be a scam, they want your email add so is this going to lead to yet more spam, am very unsure, Rick

Mine has just flagged too.

Know Clive has good word on it. Might be worth a punt though pretty happy on W7 for now as probably best thing since XP.

Mind W7 is half life so support will start to reduce.
