asked santa for some 31"mud tyres so i was searching for styles and prices and i came across these
maxxismt.jpg

£57.00 each inc vat.never used them on a 4x4 but i had some on my enduro bike.just wondered if anyone has ever had any and how good/bad they were.

I've got these (well, Maxxis M&S) all round on my '98 SWB in 235/75R15 flavour.

I can't really say how good they are off road - I've only subjected that to a spot of 'laneing and they were more than adequate - on the road though, they're great - plenty of grip wet or dry, seem to wear well, look good, and best of all, zero tyre noise at any speed

I'm sure I read a write up about them in 4x4 mag so can dig it out 7 email you a copy if you want to have a read 8) I've followed a Mav with them fitted & found out 1st hand how well they cleaned them self when going through mud as the mud just rained down on top of my T2   Cosmic, Dinky & HB (who was passenger in said mav) may remember this

thats where i have seen these.in 31"they are 57 quid.very tempted

to be honest id wait and see if hb can get 33 inch tyres on his before spending loads... but then you have wide rims so it might be that 31s are the max you can fit without cutting the tubs

wide rims

if i take the spacers off i should get them on no problem and i will still keep the width but gain the height aswell(in theory :? )

well i did 32" 11.5 15 s as a test with really big offset rims.
wound the torshoin bars up to max and they fitted ok albeit bloody close

but no tyre choice in them for off road so took them off

looked the muts nuts though

you need to measure your offset from hub to outside edge of rim for more advise

offset

the main reason for the big off set on my truck is the 30mm wheel spacers that are fitted.on standard t2 rims with 31"at tyres there is loads of room as i have got the 2"suspension lift.its the extra tread depth on muds that might catch.you never know until you try

well the maxxis have a rounder edge to the at's that im using so you might be ok .

but will you be happy at 31 muds unless you can get bigger 32 or 33
as your lifted

31"tyres

looked fine with my mates 31"tyres on so i'm gonna stick with that size(until i get bored  )

I've not cured mine yet - still rubbing.

Its a misnomer that a lift will give you clearance for bigger tyres - it might but only at the expense of travel if you fit bigger bumpstops.

Only a bodylift will truelly give you more rom for bigger tyres.

Likewise offset - more offset will help clearance on the inner wings etc but it will make matters worse on the length of the arch (front to back), as the wheel will be moving through a bigger arc rather than twisting about its centre (not that any do that but trying to illustrate the difference). As the problem on T2s is always with clearance on the mudflaps/back of arch and bumper personally I'd stay away from spacers unless you need tem to clear the brakes if you have different wheels fitted.

31"tyres

thats one of reasons i'm only going for a 31" tyre as i know they will fit without giving me any problems.so ive made a decision that after reading the review/tests that sweety sent me and the positive response from people who use them that i am gonna go for the maxxis buckshot mudders in 31/10.50/15's.at the end of the day if i dont like them i could always sell them and stick my kuhmo's back on.

Let us know how you get on with the tyres Elty. I'm going to be buying a set of 5 MT's very soon, and these look just the job. I was going to get 235 75 R15's, as I thought that was the maximum size that you could fit with a standard truck ? Keep us informed Bud.
