I'm looking at a '04 3ltr T2 on ebay Item number: 130346909760, in Newbury, Berkshire. Is there any member near there that can take a peek for me? (I'm in France!) I'm not asking for an AA type survey just a look over by a T2 owner to see if this one appears pukka. If someone can help I'll get the address where it can be viewed. Post or PM me pse.
Regards CL.

im that to far away Devizes, but VERY busy at the moment.
what you need doing, just a quick look, 4 wheels and it works or a bit more. Im not good with stuff. but if i get the say so from Mrs Zippy, i migh be able to take a look. ( no idea when though ) will have to look in diary

Zippy thanks a lot for the offer, you're a star.

Let's give the post a chance and see if we get any response from anyone closer than you by tomorrow pm. If there's no response, I'd welcome your opinion, if you can get over that way without too much trouble.

I'll PM you when I get a reply from the seller about a viewing location for this truck.

Again thanks a bunch!

Regards CL

remember the members map... have a look see any closer..

if your not on it, PM me and ill add you!

So sorry Zippy, please forgive my ignorance but how do we view the member's map?
(BTW does it log locations outside of the U.K., e.g. France?)

the loveglove is 15 mins away (in his gay bmw)... pm me ill give you his mobile

CL I am indeed only about 20 minutes from Newbury - I have to be in the office all day tomorrow sadly and was planning to leave for Wales Thursday night.

Colin Extreme) on Friday might be a better bet as he's passing along the M4 in the afternoon but if he can't make it I can probably defer my trip until Friday?

Looks promising though as I can't see a towbar.....

Let me know guys.

I'm a bit suss about that price though...its at least £2k too cheap, possibly £3k and no obvious reason why??? Normally £3500 would be getting you a 02 or52 plate 2.7TDi at best....

Suggest you might want to query that and ask if theres something not being explained?

looks like there are people closer and passing, i cant get there till teh 12 Dec, at the earlyest..

Hi Zippy and Lacroupade.

Thanks Zippy, as Lacroupade suggests both he and Extreme are closer and willing for which I'm very grateful. I've emailed the seller for a viewing location and asked a couple of obvious questions re damage/repair & service history. I've yet (a.m. today) to receive a response.

Lacroupade, many thanks for your kind offer as soon as I get a reply from the seller I'll come back to you and Extreme. And yes your right in being a little suspicious re the price, as I am! I'm concious of the old adage of 'If it's too good to be true - it probably is.' That's why I'd like someone knowledgeable about T2s (i.e. you guys!) to have a look before I splash out a few quid to Mr. O'Leary of Ryanair.

Watch this space, regards CL.

Hi can i say hope you hear back from the seller looks a good one to me.
But while viewing the page Norton closed the web page and Sent this to me

Hi Davemud

Many thanks for the warning which I haven't experienced before but then my Mac computer doesn't use Symantec. Thanks also for your good advice re HPI etc., I'll tread warily.

Interestingly the index number of the truck has not been obscured - unless it's been cleverly cut & pasted????

I'm still (Midday Thursday 26th) waiting for a contact from the seller.

Rgds CL

Hi Lacroupade

Thanks for the assurance re the Symantec thing and the link to DVLA.

DVLA comes back as:-

"The vehicle details for SB54 BBO are:
Date of Liability 01 01 2010
Date of First Registration 23 11 2004
Year of Manufacture 2004
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2953CC
CO2 Emissions 240g/Km
Fuel Type Heavy Oil
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour SILVER
Vehicle Type Approval M1
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £118.25
12 Months Rate £215.00"

So, on the surface, it looks pukka, but what is 'Date of liability' - anyone enlighten me pse?

Still no contact from the seller, so my grateful thanks to you for your offer of re-scheduling you return to the land of the leek in order to view it for me but please don't delay on my behalf.

I'll update if and as soon as the seller makes contact.

My thanks to all who have had input to this little episode. It gives me a sense of camaraderie and a good feeling, whether I get to buy this T2 or not. Great club!

Rgds to all CL.

CL - suspect DoL means next tax due date, which means its only been done a month or two ago (ties up with the date of reg). Even more strange that nearly a years tax is included in that already too-low-to-be-good price...

Good news is I can go in the morning if you need me to - had to delay going to wales til tomorrow night as I'm working on a very big bid that could keep me in work for the next ten years!!

But need to depart from here around 1400 so latest I could do Newbury is 1430ish? If later then suggest Colin your best bet. COLIN I'll send CL your old moby number OK, can't remember new one.

I'll PM you my mobile so give me a call if you need me OK?

cheers

paul

Hi Paul

Just done some research and yes DoL is when the next tax is due for the vehicle. So with a DoL at 01/01/10 it appears that there's just a few months left till this car is due to be re-taxed. (Have I got that right?..... It is past cocktail hour here!) Maybe that's a factor influencing the sale? One can always speculate but I'm with you - it seems awfully under priced. 'On verra'.

Good news about the big bid I hope it all works out and thanks for the offer of a viewing tomorrow. If I get a contact from the seller in time I'll post, PM or call, (if that's OK?)

Rgds Paul
