anyone know what this is on a vw polo 1.6

ok well this whole side of the engine seems to be separate from the the engine

it looks like a transfer box or gearbox

its def got separate oil in it as its clean that side and black the engine side
also it seems to have a drain plug possible the bit in the pic is a filler plug but not found a level hole or stick


but then i could just be talking poop cos i really got no idea.... can anyone find me a link to a 95-96 polo on line....

To me it looks like a hole to view timing marks on the flywheel, I wouldn’t go putting oil in there or your clutch will slip:augie

finally i worked it out. sort of

daughter has a seat ibiza same engine but the filler and drain are clear to see . the drain is in the same place but still cant find the filler on the polo.

its a bit noisy with the clutch up and nice and quiet clutch down
thought id fill the oil to see it it fixes it

so ill have to look again tomorrow... before mot at 9am

fingers crossed it'll pass


ill post more pics tomorrow to showing the area making the noise
