Looking good HB i would have thought you would have put the 20% LWB springs on yours, what kind of lift would that have given you???
How much you got left on your tortion bars??

Not done the front end yet - tomorrow all being well.

Theres not enough droop travel in the front end to lift more than about 2" - but I do have a mod in mind to increase it all being well thats the xmas project (- that and the winch bumper). Plan is to get 2" of lift from the front end with the torsion bars set to standard so I can get back te lost droop travel.

If it all works I may look at getting some bigger tyres and lifting it again

Sorry I thought you said 285s in that thread, makes more sense now!

I might have and you've got me thinking now which they are - just check insa site and yes they must be 265s

Well I had a crack at the torsion bars this afternoon but just dod't have enough time to do the reindexing but I got some more height out of the adjusters. The adjusters themselves are fairly well rusted onto the torsion bars so I'll probably need some time for the penetrating spray to work and then possibly some heat to fre em off. They're supposed to be protected by rubber boots. I wasn't on properly and the other sid was full of water anyway.

So she currently sits like this

Which isn't too far off - will have another go at it when I have more time - 1 1/2 hours wasn't really enough, but everything is now free and easy to turn etc.[/url]

I've got a feelling HB mine are rusted up more   from the pic it looks almost level :? how much lift did you manage to get out of the bars :?:

TBH I'm not sure I'd already wound em up to level it out a while back and got a fair bit, and I must have got another inch or so maybe more - will have to measure the result. If you get a light and look at the adjusters you can see how much more there is to move if you look up into the cross member. The adjuster arm moves till its solid up inside the cross member. I'm going to keep spraying em and then have a go in a week or so.

Also plan to make a tool/guage to set the height to standard mor esily than constantly measuring off the floor as the garage only has a rough tamped floor anyway so accurate measurements aren't possible. But I have in my head how to make a guage for setting em which will be easier thn the nissan manal method but still using its base measurements.

Ultimately as I've said I want to lift the front in a totally different way anyway, it won't gain me ay clearance but it will lift more to ultimately give room for bigger rubber.

Thanks HB  think I may have an inch left :? I know what your planing & will be interested in a set

Hello HB,

looking good with the lift springs. As you say, the truck looks almost level now as it is. I see what you mean by loosing the droop travel. This was one of the good things about Discos, you could just replace all 4 springs and shocks, extend the brake flexi's and you're there. I read on another site a while ago where guys were converting IFS to solid beam axles in the US. I think it was a Toyota 4runner.

Lee.

A beam axle is one option but the only one with the diff on the correct side seems to be off a heep, I mean Jeep and I don't really fancy having 2 carry 2 spares as jeeps run 5 stud wheels, sure there are ways around it but eaqually there are ways around some of the limitations to the IFS set up etc so I'm not finished yet.

PS that was probably about the only good thing with Discos :D:D:D:D

Hiya folks, is it possible get the springs for a swb but +4" as I am thinking of getting a 4 inch lift kit and the springs would be great instead or having to fit new brackets, Thanks,

Do you just want a pir of rear springs bluebull? I can get springs made to any spec really but obviously batches work out cheaper than one offs. +4" won't be a problem just need to thing what rate you'd want them to be, with that much lift I think you'd need them a fair bit stiffer to counter body roll 30% maybe even 40% up on standard perhaps.

Hiya Terranosaraus, just the 2 rear springs is all I would need, not sure if anybody else in the club might want to go as extreme lol but the 40% sounds good on the springs and + 4 inches taller than normal, this is the kit I am going to buy eventually. https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=435_437_341_7_445&products_id=2594 I would deffo be intertested in a pair if you might be able to get a price I could certainly pay you via paypal and give you my address, Thanks again buddy.
