A Manta GTE. Love those

I had a white one of those, 1985 plate boot version GTE in approx 1990, drove it all the way back from Leicester when my mate said, you do know it's five speed? I had a four speed fiesta before I picked it up, felt such a dick.

I'll hang onto it until I find the right buyer, I'd rather someone have it that will keep it on the road forever as long as than they can, rather than some rich boy chav that will drive it like he stole it for 2 weeks then scrap it :(

No he was mid cornwall area he was a Vauxhall technician for local dealer

Ah... I grew up in Devon and only asked as years ago I knew a bloke who knew two brothers who had a garage near Honiton. Both of them had Venturas that were customised and I seem to remember they raced them or some such. Anyway, the bloke who knew them was called Steve and sometimes it can be a very small world, which was why I asked.

Off to Halfords to buy a female Torx socket set so I can fix this gasket :augie

This is turning into a project that is going to make me want to keep this, I've just finishing valeting the interior and it's stunning now inside like it's never been used apart from the drivers side seat that has worn through the bolsters

Just realised my guess was pants as a Manta's an opel lol :augie

Early Cav's like the Terrano/Mavericks are the better put together.Had a early Cav (not sri).12 year old and faultless.

I had an old SRi cavalier :lol Hydraulic cam followers were as temperamental as a premenstrual WPC
I sold it to some bank robbers who paid me in stolen 20 pound notes . I had to help the police with their inquiries for a while :lol Eventually after secreting £400 down my pants I was sent on my way :naughty
Never had a Vaux since

I'm ok school vaux fan and had nearly all of them but for me ecowreck as we called them weren't the favorite. But the red top coscast version now your talking!! I started with a 1.6gl cav and bought my redtop coscast (not gm head) and stuck it in the cav and was awesome then Astra gte 8v and stuck the same red top in there but back end rotted in front of my eyes. Then I bought an ex police cav saloon and stuck it in that. I love that engine! Ok tappets were noisey on start up very common but once warm it was bomb proof! I kept that 3 years then sold it for good price. That red top was out of a k plate Astra gte so I could get away with no cat even on l reg cav but was agro as had to proove that it was early engine. After that I bought a v6 calibra not every one liked them but I actually did. We swapped the cams for omega 3 litre ones and had 230hp on the rolling road. Heated seats Aircon lowered slightly with full irmscher body kit (very rare) wish I still had it. As thrashed my mates golf vr6. Def a car id wish I kept and stored

Rare to find a saloon ecoteck if I had the money id have it
