Sorry lol I was meant to write, any guesses but left it off

Want to see if anyone got it before I put the details up :naughty :naughty

Is it a Ventura? Or Ventora... Can't remember...anyway...When I was a kid, the landlord of the pub just down the road had a bronze coloured one that sat in the car park doing nothing for years. It was a 3.3 litre I think.

When I was eighteen I tried for ages to buy it off him, but he steadfastly refused, saying he'd seen me driving around the village in my Cortinas and Capris and if he sold me the Ventura I'd be dead in a month the way I drove.

In retrospect he was probably right and saved my life, but man, I've always regretted not having that car.

Am I right? Do I win a holiday?

Is it one of these :). No idea what it is but it does say Vauxhall on the back and appeals to my muscle car side.

I'm so curious I tried to cheat and Google it :sly

Came across this fascinating site

Just learned there were only 329 taxed Ford Capris on the road as of 2012. How sad. Damn that scrapping scheme.

Chap around here raced Ventura's at local stadium against capris etc back in the day he probably still has them, saw him a few years ago racing a chevette with a ventura engine which was disappointing against modern front wheel drive stuff. I reckon he was having far more fun sideways though than you would have in a golf.

Must be the Carlton I have a Carlton engine in the Blitz kit car & I am having a heck of job finding bits for it. How much do you want for the engine & box :lol

All wrong :p Some nice guesses though

It's a 1993 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi 2.0 16v EcoTec
2 owners from new (I'm the 3rd) 90,000 totally standard, lots of service history with 2 documented Cam Belt changes in the invoices. 2 keys, Turbo Fan Alloys (bubbling) MOT until 19th April (this month), I would happily put an MOT on it as I've checked it all over and know it will sail through one, ready to drive away.

99 left registered in the UK as of October 2015 becoming very very rare now, has a few niggles but when it goes up for sale I really think this will be brought by an enthusiast so not worried as they are Cavalier common issues.

Here's the list of problems with it, I have gone from corner to corner of this car with a fine toothcomb for hours last night when home from work.

Crankshaft Position Sensor needs to be replaced - I've read the fault codes, also when up to temp sitting at idle, occasionally the car will switch itself off.

Front Exhaust Manifold Gasket blown, this is a very very common issue on the 16v EcoTec and should be fixable for £50 ish, I'm going to be trying to remove the heatshield and manifold to investigate further this evening. Makes the car sound like it's ticking.

Drivers Wing Mirror has been knocked off - New one ordered online same colour

Drivers side front tyre has a slow puncture, holds pressure for about a week then deflates.

Battery is knackered - will come with a 2nd hand working one

It's cleaner underneath than my Terrano, I've genuinely considered keeping it but been told if I do the Terrano has to go. Head says one thing heart says another just hope I'm trusting the right one.

Here's some pics, I'm looking for £1000 ono for it

This is the Carlton engine I originally put in the Blitz it's the 1.8 8v about 115hp but has quite a lot of torque and works really well off road.

Not the Redtop, referred to as the blue top I think 2.0 16v EcoTec

Ridiculously quick this thing, really throws you into the buckets when you floor it

I see you're from the south West...that chap who raced them didn't happen to be from Honiton or the surrounding area by any chance did he?
