Our TV in the bedroom started to pixilate nearly a year ago more on freeview channel 46, Challenge programme. We have generally ignored it.
We tend to set the timer and watch Jim Bowen and Bulleye, to see, "Look what you could have won" Makes me laugh, but helps me get to sleep.
I digress, I have checked the aerial, downleads, re terminated connectors, even tried a seperate aerial. The signal strength never gets above 71% with occasional dips to 35% odd really.
We are quite high on Cannock Chase, and we can see the Sutton Coldfield transmitter, and the Tamworth transmitter, which is the main transmitter for the midlands, pushing out mega watts :doh
We could have a faulty TV, we bought it from Tesco, about 3 years ago, the DVD player went first, cheap and chearful Technica. :doh
I did some research, and in some areas the 4G mobile phone signals are being rolled out across the country and can interfere with TV reception.
The mobile phone companies are sponsoring free filters that go in line with the aerial, to stop 4G signals getting through.
"AT 800" are providing these, they have also done a mailshot post card to areas they think could be affected, we didn't get one though.:augie
I phoned them yesterday and they are sending me a free filter, clearly I will try that and report back.
In my mind I think TV fault, as the one in the lounge has signal strength 10/10 and never pixilates.
Years ago we had an old TV, and that used to pick up the radio transmissions of the Radio Ham guy across the road, in fact listening to him was more entertaining than the TV in those days of only having three channels lol.
