On the Garmin you can put it in "off road" mode so it will still get you back where you came from for example. Also walking mode, handy for finding the right venue in town:D
Garmin's background of marine sat nav etc is a bonus I think:thumbs

Excellent :thumbs I'll have a play. Havent had the chance to yet but i did notice its wayyyyyyy better than tom tom when you want it consider going off main routes. Basically its not arsed if theres not a road on its map so i guess it'll do what you say :D

indeed, though keyboard might be useful, still touch screen on tablet.

what about an ipad or one of these clone things. typically around 7" size.
suspect their solid state memory will survive the bumps better and if not
on ciggy adaptor the unit's battery will last longer.

Ive still got my pda with igo software on it as well as the new one mainly for the missus. Although its the older version its the same as garmin base theirs on :thumb2:thumb2

However the problem with all the windows based apps is to match the software on the newest ones from the shops you need to buy a licensed version on the newest ones, not even a trial version around theyve tightened up big time :( buying them unless you find a good offer is well over £100 for windows. You can get a newer modern one sat nav like the garmin 1410 complete with bang up to date maps and free updates for 3 months for £130 :nenau
