Just spent a very nice, if just a little cold, day with Rick in snowy Bexhill on sea. He very kindly offered to change my valve seals... Simple he said, only takes an hour....
Then the fun started... you see my 1999 T2 is not like the others... It took nearly 5 hours in the end, as he had to make up the tools we would need as he went along, owing to my rockers and the mounting points being different to the other ones he had seen. Mine rockers are made from aluminium with a hardened end fixed onto them.
Anyway, we now have the following questions...
If anyone else has a 1999, can you have a look at a few things?
Firstly, Your dip stick (the one on the car!)
Is it flat all the way along it's length, or round like a long spring with just a flat bit at the end?
Is the end of the tube the dip stick goes into, curved towards the front of the car or towards the off side wing.
On the little yellow handle, there is a number.. what is it on yours?
Next.. Your EGR valve (If you have one)..
Even if you have removed it, did your car originally come with one?
Lastly, on the inlet manifold by the short flexible bit of pipe that connects the intercooler, is there is a round vacuum valve?
I would also like to publicly thank Rick for his help, it was very much appreciated. Thanks you very much Rick :bow
