hi all,
just wandered into the 4x4 territory now due to giving up camping and the trailer tent for a caravan, and after a life spent with vw's air and water cooled, i now find myself the owner of a p reg maverick.
great car and i was turned towards a 4x4 after driving a friends mitsubishi l200.
almost brought a galaxy but choice between the two was no match and the rest is history.
so just like to say hi to everyone and i do have a few questions but i will settle in to the forum first and ask questions later.
speak soon,
craig:thumbs

i ddint think you were ever going to show your face..

EYE see have have though...

collect tomorrow!!!! woohoo!!!!

well tomorrows the day for collection and i cant wait, really looking forward to driving the big tank, getting annoyed at seeing all the other mavericks and terrano's and not having mine:sly:sly

just a quickie, is there anything in particular i need to check before i drive off, its mileage is 70,000, and its p reg i think its an early mark 2?

and all i can see on the merchandise site is nissan owners club stickers, where are the maverick owners club ones? :doh:doh

thanks again for the warm welcome, and hope to hear from some of you soon,

all the best,
craig

Ah, nowt better then getting your new motor! :thumb2

Couple of simple things to check for -

Check the jack is in the back
Wheel brace
Locking wheel nut

Ask if its been serviced, what the service included - oils, lsd, filters, checked brakes etc.... open the bonnet and have a check of the levels, if its been serviced properly everything should be topped up
Have a look underneath, exhaust, any signs of oil
Start it up and give it a rev, bit of smoke when cold and started shouldnt be a problem... leave it running for a while and when warm rev it again

Sure others will be along with more ideas....

Get it home, give it a damn good clean and polish, all in the door sills and nooks and crannys..... then get it DIRTY! :lol

hi CRaig and welcome!

i woul dget my nose right under that car and check the gearbox and diffs for oil leaks etc-as a guide, i have a p preg with 115k miles and it sdry as a bone underneathe, so should yours be.

I would also check, cos this is easy, the positive clamp and wires/negative to engine-mine was corroded. check starter kicks in strong, again just done mine and it starts like immediatly! make sure all yoru wheels are tight-when i got mine, they wernt and i nearly ended up loosing a wheel! check for smoke, again as a guide, mine chucks out practically nothing at all.

good luck with it and do ask questions, loads of friendly help on site here. i've had all sorts go wrong with mine, and thus far managed to get sorted via this site!
