Thanks for the heads up. Dealer has contacted my garage this afternoon so hopefully all is in hand.

Lovely looking truck. Don't get disheartened. We're all working through a list of jobs.:thumbs

Tidy looking moter hope its as nice underneath !

If you do need to replace the battery I rate Yuassa but Halfords are charging you for fitting in the price. it should be nearer the £80 mark. Have you visited this site a Yuassa 019 5 yr warranty 100 Ah 900 cca for my Jeep was £86 including delivery. They are often cheaper on e -bay than on their wesite !

Out of interest the Hankook 4 year warranty ones are worth a look.

A tip that few know about.
Always change the plugs on a hot engine. NEVER a cold one. They come out very easily on a hot engine.
Tell your garage that. If they snap them off, they're trying to make money out of you.

I second that, on both counts, Rick

Hot engine tip works.

Just mention to the garage they'll come out easy when engine hot,
Keep the cost to £60 mark

I have 2 Yuassa Batteries on tractors I have. Very good indeed. I left one of the tractors for 3 months and went to it the other morning, lifted off the frosty sheet and re-connected the battery and after a little lazy turning, span the tractor over and it fired right up.
The tractor has 4 very good glow plugs on which helps.
Try to steer away from Easy Start if you can. It burns the top end of the engine and will wear it out over time. A little squirt now and then is OK though. Always have a can handy for the old tractors.

Nice truck by the way. Yours is much cleaner inside than mine. They look good in the LWB spec too.
Hope you enjoy it :thumb2

Welcome GJ, your car looks nice! Hope you'll be able to sort it out sooner.

Have they offered discounted price in the shop?:clap

Yeah Zephyr, from the local branch. Didn't have time to faff around waiting for delivery from anywhere.

So the truck went into the garage today. They've removed the old glow plugs but ones broke in the process !! The guy who drills them out is coming tomorrow morning. So hopefully should have it back by tomorrow evening. Just hope they don't have to take the head off to drill and the dealer stands by his word in paying for it :nenau

Tight Glo Plugs etc

Breakages not uncommon, on Merccedes the injectors are held in place with a sort of horseshoe spring clamp design on most models. They are often so stuck you can lift the car up off the ground by the injector and it will not come out !

At work they get a Diesel Specialist (Service Motors of Spondon) to do a mobile removal service for the firm as our Technicians cant't or wont do it themselves. In rare cases they have to remove the cylinder head.

Oh My God :doh :doh :doh

I wish I'd have offered to meet you somewhere now on a motorway services and I've have done it for you in the hour :( I don't know how they've managed that, I've done loads now and never broken one, get the engine hot, soak the hell out of them and slowly untighten and tighten again and keep backing them off little by little until they come out.

I've never even got close to breaking one before, I'm sorry you've had this problem chap!!!

I know ! Gutted :( Just hope the dealer for fills they're side of things by paying for the repairs. More stress than I need leading up to Christmas !!!!

Great news ! I have my truck back :) Garage managed to extract the broken plug and the dealer paid for the repairs no questions asked. Can look forward to driving it now and touch wood no other mishaps for some time. Thanks for everyone's help and advice :thumbs

Glad you didn't have to fork out anymore cash :thumb2

How's she starting in the morning now?

Don't know until tomorrow haha :nenau Only got it back this afternoon. If it doesn't start tomorrow I'm guessing it'll be the battery :D

Sure it will fire a dream!!!! My tip with these is to not only wait for the plug light to go out but wait until you hear the loud click come from the right wing area, that's the relay letting you know it's ready to go :naughty

Update on car ! It's starting fine now :) Took her on a 200mile round trip today from Wilmslow to shap, then back to Oldham and returned to Wilmslow.

On the way home from Shap I started to get a grinding/creaking/knocking sound from the rear end :doh
Not a happy bunny !!! Haven't a clue what it is, I'll have to take a look tomorrow. Just praying it's nothing serious.
