hi all, read all the posts on the switch/box for the window ( drivers side ) had everything to bits, no joy, qiute sure its the box, box will "click" & try & close but has the "wife syndrome" , wont go down! no click nothing, had it out 12v onto it, still no click, had the box apart cant see nowt untoward, the switches move when pressed for the up position but no go for the down position. cant find a breakers near me with any parts in, so i phoned main dealers quoting the part number & he tells me its an AMPLIFIER for £180 + VAT !!!!!!!!!! My car is an 96 mistral import & ive always had trouble getting new parts, other than from " milner off road " Everywhere else always gets the wrong part, battery, exhaust, etc, all wrong. Can anyone tell me if this switch/box is the same as on a terrano, & does anyone know a good breakers close to warrington? i have tried the online breakers, fill this in, fill that in, then just dead ends, none of them list a mistral

does yours have one multi plug or two, the terrano only has one and I have found dirty relay contacts are usually the problem, but if the relay only works on up and not down I would check for bad contact on the door switch, if that is OK then yes you need a new box, as for calling it an amplifier? its main purpose is to give one touch control of the drivers window, worth looking at a Primera or other Nissan in the scrappy certainly the Primera has a similar motor assembly, Rick

My mistral has one plug into the back of the box with eight pins on, the switch looks fine n clean & seems to be working ok, trying to find a breakers near me as we speak, thanks for the info.

I had the same on my mistral. Sometimes it would not work, but if I held the switch on and tapped the relay box in the door, it worked.
So I took out the relay and levered the plastic cover off the top and slid the electrics out. Ater looking at the solderes on the board I noticed a ring around one of them telling me the solder joint was cracked. Missed it the first couple of times. Out with my very old soldering iron and a quick dab and all has been well since.
This same thing also worked on my Intermittent wiper relay. I had them sometimes working and sometimes not.....same thing. A quick solder and all good since.

Sounds like the Terrano relay is the same as the Mistral - I had to remove mine on a '94 T2 a couple of days ago to replace a faulty window regulator, and it also had a single plug with eight terminals, can't see any reason why the Mistral and the Terrano ones should be any different, they perform the same function.
Might be an idea to follow solarman's advice and see if a local breaker has a Primera relay in stock, if it has the same 8 pin connector it should work.

If we're talking drivers door I've got one in Oxford - I'll try and look at it when I'm up there next week and photograph the bits.

Thanks for the replies, now sorted, managed to find a breakers with an old terrano in & got the switch from that, nice to have the window going again even in the rain ! Thanks again.
