Discovered that the oil filters on the petrol empty over night, like most of us only change a filter after getting the oil hot, but as the oil pressure switch had failed on the off roader, it is easier to remove the filter to get at it, and was waiting for the normal oil spill, but nothing, not one drop, the filter was dry, now I had assumed that the rubber membrane that can be seen through the small holes should have stopped that, (this was a coopers/fiamm filter) so having a firstline filter on the skip cut it up and the rubber fits and looks good to do the job, so watch this space , I will cut up a coopers very soon and see the difference, together with pics, Rick

OK well got a new Coopers filter and half filled it with oil, (needs time to settle) then put it on its side oil up to the threads, and oil started leaking immediately, five mins and it was all gone, did the same with two others that my factors got special for me and on both it took probably ten mins for them to start to leak, but leak they did so a bit disappointed, if I cannot find a filter that will hold its oil at least over night, then I will be modding the filter housings so the filter stays full, the reason behind all this is to stop cold start rattle with dry big ends till the oil gets through, all this metal to metal contact is bad news, with a coopers filter I can start up to around 5-6 hours later with no noise at all, hopefully with one of the others (forgot the names) it will last till the morning or more, Rick
