My 115mm angle grinder decided to stop working yesterday.
I can't see what's wrong with it :nenau Though it did trip the consumer unit.

I've had for 15 years so I reckon It's done well :thumb2

I have another as a spare, one of those gutless cheaper ones from B&Q (I think) so I'm in no rush so to speak.

Anyone recommend a particular new one?

I've always had Bosch and they've taken some abuse :naughty

I'm sure someone mentione Screwfix because of the guarantee, but I might have been dreaming. :)

I had a Titan heavy SDS drill from them cheap as chips, lasted 2.5 years before the gearbox went and yes it had a good amount of abuse, then realised it had 3 year warranty but not got receipt, went into shop and they looked it up, found it because I bought it on a card, guy just said bring it back and we will swap it, well chuffed, Rick

Tool stopped working ?

In the past 5 years I have had a couple of failures of electrical appliances, first was a vacuum cleaner second was a Jetwasher.

In both cases the moulded plugs had failed inside between the plug case and the outer lead. Cut off plug fitted normal and both items returned to life. There was no external signs of damage in either case.

Worth checking ?

Bosch 110volt for me. I have a cheap 240v £20? from the local store and it's hanging apart but still works.:thumb2

I opened up everything yesterday & checked continuity, I couldn't find anything wrong.

I figured the windings had gone or sumat :nenau

I've just gone back & checked again to find the neutral wire had broken inside, it must have been touching when I checked yesterday.
I've cut out the bad section, rewired & I now have a working grinder :thumb2 :thumb2 :D :D

It doesn't end there.................. I have a very nice Dewalt on it's way that I ordered earlier, I now have three angle grinders   :doh :doh :lol :lol

Perfect. I have 1 I use for flap disc and 1 with a cutting disc. Saves so much time when you don't have to keep changing discs :thumbs
