hd springs it is then, only prob with terranosaurus's wheels leeds is a hell of a drive, 300+

i know people like this flex business. yes it looks impressive but when do you actually need that much flex.
ive never been stuck due to lack of flex. just chassis grounding out
and no drive left

That caption photo that Adz has put up is a case in point - your nearside rear is off the ground - mine would be firmly planed. In that situation you may have driven off but it wouldn't always happen.

Big long thread on mudclub about dislocation and why that works let alone just decent flex - with the T2 if your back can flex more then theres a good chance that the front can keep both wheels on the floor as thats where the weakness is, spinning a front and dropping to 2wd.

Its not the side lugs its just the tread thats catching same as with the Isna Dakars. The offset makes it worse in my opinion - tempted to try them on some narrower less offset rims.

This was in standard mode apart from no anti roll bar ;)

yes adz , and you would have loads more flex if you took the front arb off too.

but unless you want full off road driving and crap on road you have to weigh up the pro's and cons.
id look into dislocating rear but the front arb is staying. at the end of the day there is not enough movement in the front to warrent the gross effect on road handling

in the pic the wheel in question is still on the ground , i know this because i can get the rears right out of the arch lower than the bumper . and yes it drove straight out. but it was a 4 ft hole and any further i would have been stuck . well i wasnt going to try anyway .

yes i can see flex has its uses but its more often the chassis stuck on the ground before you need any more flex. lets face it you'd be hard pushed to not have one rear on the ground

As you mentioned front ARBs I'll have my say.
I've been without all my arbs for ages and all was bearable....UNTIL I put the Tunit in:sly
The road manners were so awful even I put the front one back on:augie
Mind you it goes like stink now:lol
I'm going to take it off for offroading still though:cool:

Hi

Does anyone have any photos of the torsion bars and the clips needed to adjust the height,

Do i jack up the front axels and put them on stands?

Cheers darwin

How did you find the lwb springs? did you get the 2" lift?

Are they coloured light blue? (the ones i'm getting are)

Did you put the axel stands under the front axels then undo the top nuts?

If you could do a spaccers guide that would be great.

Dan you just need to loosen the top of the two nuts (the locknut) while holding the bolt head, then hold the lower nut still and turn the bolt head clockwise to raise the front of the vehicle. Try and do the same number of turns both sides if you can, that keeps it level, or you can check with a ruler against the wheel arch when on level ground...and it does settle so you need to rock it a fair bit or drive it round the block and readjust (remembering to tighten the locknut afterwards of course!).

I found that if you get the front wheelarches about 2cms lower than the rear it will still level out with a modest load in the back.

Chassis height

My archs sit at this height (normal springs)

Front

Left Right
80.5cm/31.5" 79.5cm/31"

Rear
Left Right
84.5cm/33" 84.5cm/33"

Any other SWBs with this?

Just as a bench mark.

Plastic work varies and wings etc are only fitted at fairly large tolerances anyway. Best way to check front ride height is as per the Nissan manual which references the difference to the floor of 2 points so negates any difference in tyre height too. From this base mark you can then raise the susupension if required by a known amount measured from the floor.

It page 33 in section FA of the Manual

Springs In!

Well got the LWB springs in but:

1. Both rear shocks are dead, LH dosent offer any resistance, RH sheath is split.

2. There is a hole in the last bend of my exhaust!

Bugger!

And no one told me the torsion bars were in the middle of the car!:augie

Here are some pics of my lock nuts, that were at the end of my threads?

Mmm they look as if they've been wound up pretty high already, be interesting to see how much adjustment you've got left....

looks to be loads left in them yet.

A better indicator is to look at the bottom and how far the arm is into the crossmember.

Right got everything but desperately busy rest of day and evening (4x4 Response AGM) so will sort out costs and packaging up etc tomorrow - sorry for delay, busy week.
