Some of my gauges are playing up and I've been told they are fed from the alternator. There's no loose wires so I suspect it's because the alterntor is full of mud ;O(

Is there an easy way to clean it out?

Brian

Jet wash at the ready ;O)

The alternator charges the battery and runs everything while the engine is running, the only special item is the tacho this may come from the alternator but more usually via the brain (ECU) via the crank sensor, so if you are charging OK leave well alone, if it is full of mud only use the jet wash at low power and leave for several hours to dry before starting, Rick

Thanks Rick, it is charging ok , the rev counter and water temp are playing up so I'll have a look at those two sensors.

might be worth checking the wiring too.

Ok, water temp fixed, the connector had snapped off the end of the sensor so I've drilled a small hole into the end and reattacted it with a screw.

Rick, the rev counter has been dropping to zero on an off for a while now. Have been told it an alternator fault. it only does it on tick over, never when driving or if revs are held higher.

Do you thats the alternator or still think it's the sensor?

Brian
