alternator

hi all. alternator problem. got the mistral auto. the alternator has an attachment on the back of it which im told runs the aircon and other stuff. got an oil leak at the back or under this attachment. took it off used gasket sealer put it all together,sheared a holding bolt. thing still leaks.any ideas please on why it leaks and if its driveable. i should mention that the oil is engine oil.

That thing on the back of the alternator is the vacuum pump for your BRAKES, so I would consider it quite important, sounds like you need a replacement, Rick

it is fed oil from the man gallery and has a drain back to the sump, vacuum pumps need an oil supply, Rick

only ever seen one Mistral, (Briggies) and his was vac pump on alternator, T2s can have them on alternator or on bottom of oil pump, Rick

many thanks. have to strip alternator down for sheared bolt then and try to find where leak is from. many thanks again.
