truck broke down wednesday night, had been running a bit ropey recently and eventually just refused to start. no power from the battery
done the usual clean all the power leads earths etc and still nothing. guessed it was the alternator

popped it off and the points of contact were pretty rusty , knowing these are the earth points for the alternator cleaned them, but still not convinced

gave rick a ring and he helped telling me how to strip and change the brushed inside.

10 mins on the phone tracking the parts
30 quid for brushes and regulator all as a screw on part

took it home popped it in , re fitted alternator.

i have bright lights, faster wipers the fan inside clears now .

and it runs much nicer ....... explain that!!!!!
its a kin diesel it dont need power/electric to run

only worry now is my fueling, i have a after market fuel primer cos mine is seized and im tight. and now its full and hard when not running as you would expect but deflated when running. never used to be.... im thinking blocked filter.....

your thoughts ???

interesting point about the alternator ground points, i think ill clean mine, might be whats causing my idle issues perhaps!

glad youre sorted though, great job fixing the alternator, i wouldnt have a Betty Boo :thumbs

Might do mine at Christmas as a pressy to the old girl  :augie :lol

All the off roading doesn't help but hay, its fun n what there meant for :sly :lol

Well a new filter wont brake the bank & that will be 1 to eliminate :thumbs

Has your got the little barsted "Banjo Filkter".? ;)

While doing the alternator Extreme, you have probably improved the general engine earthing, and while it is a diesel, it still relies on some electronics for running, so point for other users, check all the earth straps body to engine, chassis to engine etc, Rick
