Heavens forbid but If all Terrano's disappeared overnight what would be your next best thing to a Terrano?

Dunno, I've been scratching my head about this one too. Hopefully we will find another Terrano to replace the wifes but have considered green ovals as well as other Nissan 4x4s or even a Kia is it a Sportage

Navara D22 Camper or a Fourtrak Independant TDX or Fieldman (Commercial)

The only place you'll find a fourtrak is in a museum now, they've all rotted away!

:lol

There are a few tidy examples still knocking around, ask the boys about the red headed farmer lass that pulled up at the Tesco petrol station on the last Yorks meet in one!!!!

Not bad!!!! And the Fourtrak was in good nick too :naughty

There are still a few round here, some in great nick.

I think I would go for the New Terrano, even if I have to get a grey import, or failing that, a Navana with a 2.7Tdi conversion.

Was very tidy and like you say a nice truck too:naughty

If something happened to Foxy I'd probably look for a 4.2 Trol, failing that needle in the haystack it'd be a 4.2 Landcruiser 80 or one of the newer import 70s they make overseas with the 4.2 engine (another needle admittedly :lol or finally a D22 double cab with a 2.7 conversion.

I do also quite like the idea of the rumoured wrangler double cab though :augie

I will always be able to find a T2 that I can make roadworthy for next to nothing, so not worried at all, Rick

Well mine at 21 1/2 years is still going strong, at this rate, it will outlive me as long as it doesn't get bumped. When do I get free road tax lol... main reason I am keeping it lol.:augie

I don't think there is any vehicle built today that will still be being driven and passing MOT's in 21 years time.

I believe that the Fourtrak had galvanised body panels, so I wonder which bits rotted away? I guess people thought galvanised, I can ignore cleaning it lol, and it probably rotted from mud build up underneath. Many farmers liked this vehicle.

It is of no interest to car manufacturers to build a car to last, even 10 years down the line, cars won't meet the latest emission standards, unless you buy a VW group car. lol Our Skoda has been knobbled by VW and I am refusing to have the software upgrade done. If the mod is that good, then why wasn't it incorporated into the original car? They fiddled it for a reason, there must be harm being done to something with this mod. Now VW say ( who believes them now :eek) that it won't affect economy, or performance, maybe that part could be true, but they won't put in writing, the effect on overall reliability, for example, what will be the overall affect on the EGR valve, or on the more expensive DPF ( diesel particulate filter) which, can only hold a certain amount of ash, then it must be replaced, maybe sooner, and more often and at £800 + a time :doh When I spoke to the Skoda technician recently, after a service, he scratched his head and didn't know either. If in 10 years time, the reliability facts and figures haven't changed from non modded cars, then I could have it done, but what's the point then?
What's in it for me having this mod? if I have it done, am I accepting a "repair" and thus waiving any future compensation?

Funny really as me and the bloke next door was talking about what car would we most like if money was no object. I said a brand new Terrano, I'm sure in a corner of some spanish factory there will be a boat load of brand new terrano parts perhaps enough to make one. Galvanise the chassis and go to town rust proofing or galvanising as much of the body as possible. Fit a second battery as standard, fit the missing grease nipples and things like that. Maybe a heated front screen.

Nissan really wouldn't like a super terrano being built would they.

Rustic it's a shame but the free road tax is a rule that does not move at present our SL is 19 years next year but when it's 25 years it will still cot the same to tax at present.

I like the Patrol or I would have the later Jeep WK series the V6 Merc diesel engined version dont know much about the later version with the Fiat engine.

Money no object: Mercedes-Benz G-class. Nothing fancy, the 350d Professional will do nicely :)

Reasonable budget, but strong opposition from Mrs perelaar: Toyota Hilux.

Reality: second-hand Suzuki Jimny :)

The G Wagen is a solid shout, I'd love one of those too :naughty

I think it's before Jan 73 that qualifies for tax exempt, although not 100% sure

My next choice to replace my terrano would be a patrol for sure:naughty
