I've had loads of tools from both Aldi and Lidl over the years, and as long as you remember the market they are aimed at is the diy-er, not the professional, they are excellent ('m still using an orbital sander and an electric drill I bought from Lidl nearly 20 years ago).

For occasional use probably fine I guess... but I have experienced in the past that cheap tools always end up more expensive...

I agree, as long as you don't have huge expectations of them they're fine.

Having said that....I have renovated my house, using quite a number of their tools, and they have coped very well, and 6 years later, still working perfectly.....:nenau

As said.

Got to say though I'm still using a cheap angle grinder that I've had for 20 years and it's still going strong and it's had some right abuse over the years.

I agree, most tools I have had from Lidl and Aldi, have been fine, most have a three year guarantee, so keep the receipt.
You wouldn't want to use them for an 8 hour shift, on a daily basis.

On the subject of buying "cheap" tools, I have heard that some of the screwfix products available to the DIYer, from some major manufacturers have been cost reduced by using plastic gears in their drills/drivers etc
Sometimes it is difficult to tell, so check that they state metal gears.

This wouldn't surprise me as it's the way that Karcher went. Hasn't damaged sales I don't think, but has damaged the brand as a professional bit of kit. As screwfix is B&Q under another name...
I just had a £45,00 voucher by way of compensation for damage done to my kit by a poor quality tool of theirs.

Looks like it's good to go on the Aldi stuff then. :clap

Muchas gracias.

i have and still use a black and decker hand drill, nothing but 2 gears,a b&d 4"angle grinder,a 7"b&d polisher all got in 1976 and they still work.these were got at the start of my body repair shop.all heavily used.
i did have to machine a bronze bush for the drill as i buggered up the drill drilling through a solid brick wall for a sink wast pipe.the polisher has a bevel tooth missing but is ok to use.
i get workzone now if what i want comes on offer.

I have bought and used many of the Aldi and Lydl tools including power tools and they are very good even for heavy DIY use, but I am selective, for instance the 9 inch diamond blades are a steal at a fiver a time, packs of TC tipped saw blades are good etc, but only buy to your needs, Rick
