just to clear up a misconception here, the expansion tank has a two way communication with the radiator, assuming the rad cap is in good order, any overpressure in the rad will when hot go into the expansion tank and when it cools will be sucked back into the rad, this happens every time the motor heats and cools, so neat anti freeze in the expansion tank will soon mix if you remove your radiator cap and have room to add fluid then your rad cap is faulty and should be replaced, or the pipe between the two is faulty, no if's no but's that is how it is, Rick

so you do need to run it until it's hot first, so if your not going out in it as soon as you've changed the stat pour it straight in the rad as we said! Otherwise it will freeze, no if's - and certainly no buts :augie

which is exactly why I said fill the rad not the tank - I mean if people are thick like me its hard to know if the rad cap is bolloxd.:cool:
