If it's not one thing it's another!!
Does anybody know of a fix, my bearings are extremely noisy on my a.c. pump, can it be disconnected and run with a smaller belt or will it have to be a new/recon unit?
Cheers

The free wheeling bearing can be replaced, Rick
I have searched the internet and it seems that if it’s noisy when the ac in off its the freewheeling bearing and disappears when on, well mine is noisy on both fronts, I can’t seem to find anywhere in the UK that sells the bearing, any ideas?

Odd that it is noisy both on and off, but if you remove the pump and strip it once you have the bearings out you will be able to get replacements from Kent Bearings Ashford, Rick

Just realised you have only one belt, your best bet is to find a used one from a breakers to keep the car on the road, there is a consortium of breakers that are able to source most things through their group, cannot think of the name but you should find it on the net, Rick

Even nearer to you for bearings Neil....
Solent Bearings
Redbridge Lane
Southampton.

I used to get all my bearings from there.
Wheel Bearings, tensioner bearings, needle bearings....
As long as you can get the numbers off the old ones?

As it turns out the noise I could hear when the AC was on was the alternator which failed today while my wife was on her way to the hospital. Deep joy. She had to call the rac as I was in Swindon because the battery light and strangely the AT overtemp light came on. Picking up new alternator and compressor on Saturday as I can't have the truck of the road while trying to locate a bearing for the compressor as it's the wife's daily driver

The wifes daily driver!!!!! Forget that, I wouldn't let my misses in the drivers seat of mine

Bloody hell. I must be the unluckiest man with a patrol at the moment. I can't be without the truck as the missus drives it so I bit the bullet and bought a new alternator and AC compressor. Removed the alternator and fitted the new one went reasonable well, removed the aircon compressor to find they have given me the wrong one so I can't get the truck going now till they've sorted the right one. I took the air intake off to make life easier to fit the alternator to find that the hose that has the spigot on it has split so now I have the task of finding another one of those. I'm sick to death of spending money on the troll at the moment [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

Bloody nightmare, mate.
Best option is that you take the Terrano off my hands and I'll take the Patrol. ;)

It has been getting me down lately but not that low yet.
Anyway got the alternator fitted yesterday and put it all back together for the time being waiting for the new compressor to arrive.

It usually comes in threes !!

What a nightmare for you hope the A/T light was just a glitch due to Battery light fault.
