I am scraping a Mk 1 petrol with AC but have no idea if the bits are the same, I would find a pipe fit it and vacuum it down, charge it and see, that work and gas will probably cost £80 plus, just been out and had a look, nop hoses on the petrol totally different, Rick
When you find a pipe it needs vacuuming down to check for leaks and refilling. It may also need oil as well as refrigerant so go somewhere that understands air con. Check the air con pump engages the clutch at the driving belt before spending money.

my air con doesnt work either and i have no intentions of having it repaired i tend to drive with window down most of the time can you run with the air con belt off as i am about to order a new set of belts ?
cheers
if the air con belt is on its own like the 2.4 petrol then take it off, no sense in turning a pulley for nothing, I am just about to remove mine as the AC does not hold a charge and the belt is noisy, but bad back has stopped play at this time, Rick
