Air con rad gone ?

Last week when I was fitting my spotlights I caught the air con rad slightly with my ratchet & very slightly bent a couple of the fins:doh been out today to adjust the aim of the spotlights & noticed the sleeve of my jacket was soaking wet & when I touched the air con rad it was soaking wet where I had caught it last week & looked a little white but also wet at the top of the rad which I hadn't touched am I right in thinking the rad is shot:augie is the gas dangerous as as I think i've breathed some in while sorting out the spotlights:doh

Had a feeling that was the case & don't fancy spending around a £100 on a new one, wouldn't care it's only 2.5 years old:doh now the next question is the AC pump likely to seize up now:nenau if so i'll cut the belt off

I've had my condenser off for the last year and didn't even consider that :nenau Is yours a 2.7? Mine's the 3.0 so I think the AC pump is always driven

Yes mines a 2.7TDI:thumb2 my mates T2 AC pump seized up when he was on the motorway & had smoke pouring out the bonnet at first he thought it was on fire until he opened the bonnet & saw the state of the belt so cut it off there & then:lol

First things first, check if the aircon is working.

Not always, but most places that re-gas Air con, put a florescent green dye in with it, to make leak finding easier.

On some T2's, the Liquid tank, which is just in front of the battery, has a small round window, in the top, nestled between the pipes (usually covered by a layer of dirty grease. It looks a bit like the window on a battery that tells you if it is charged. This window, if it is there, allows you to see how much fluid is in there, and also the colour. Another reason they put the dye in.

ac pump will be fine as there is a electro-magnetic clutch that has to engage, once pressure goes the low pressure switch will prevent the clutch from engaging so its just the end of the pulley that will spin
