Air con is not so cold....

So the sun came out today (at last).

Car washed and dried, glass cleaned, wheels tidied up too. Out for a spin and I notice that when I crank up the air conditioning, it did not get very cold. Certainly not as cold in other vehicles I have owned/been in.

Any thoughts? The vehicle is 7 years old so I wonder if it maybe needs cleaning or something.

Book in for a re-gas at a garage, approx £40
Tell them it's inoperative and ask them to check to see if it's empty when they go to do the re-gas.
If so, ask them to add a tracer dye when adding the gas after the vac down.
Based on annual % loss of gas, it may have reached such an inadequate pressure now that the system is protecting itself and not activating.

I would imagine it needs re-gassing as its probably never been done. I could be wrong but someone else will probably pop up soon:thumb2

if the pressure is down then it will not allow the compressor to run as no gas = no circulation = no oil to compressor, if it needs re gassing then it has a leak, depends how long a regass lasts, may be days may be months, and the dye is in my experience never seen at a leak point, I have a gas sniffer and still very hard to find a leak, Rick

Also worth changing pollen filter too as a blocked filter stops air flow. There's a download with instructions.

Thanks for the helpful (and not so helpful) comments. Cabin filters out this morning and they are choked big style. New pair on the way home.

I'll see what that does before booking in for a re-gas.
