Hi all.
My 1997 Maverick has a split CV rubber boot on drivers side.
Also this CV clangs on lock in reverse. (4x4 not engaged)
Therefore I assume CV and new boot required.
Is it easier to get a complete second hand drive shaft or strip the old one down and renew CV and boot?

Is there any write up how to do this?

Is some member going to tease me with a good S/Hand complete drive shaft with CV at a bargain price.

You can get a brand new drive shaft for around £50 but be aware there are 2 different types with different amounts of splines.
There's a fair bit to strip off to get the shaft out.
Hub,brake caliper, front shock, upper ball joint and tie rod have to come off to allow you to manipulate the shaft out.
Some also remove the lower ball joint to give better access.
Also a good time to check the ball joints while you are working in that area:thumb2
