Not sure if this is the right place to post, so here goes.

Can anyone give me a comparable interior sized vehicle? I'm looking for standard made dog cages and no one does maverick, so what should I look for that is the same size (wheel arches in same place etc)

Does that make any kind of sense lol

So have I got this right, you're looking for a dog cage?

Just the one pooch or more?

We stick a standard dog cage in the back from Pets at home, I can measure it for you later if you like. My too labs fit in it for shorter journeys, anything over an hour and I may have to think again.

I actually found a company on the interneet last week or so that made either cages or guards for the tailgate opening and listed for Terrano. Would need to google it again tho.

I need two cages, and most bought ones are two inches too wide to go side by side.

I have five or six crates from previous cars and they are all too wide :doh

Mav and Terrano were the same vehicle until Ford created a mew vehicle that was totally different and badged it as a Mav. If you are unsure which yours is either ask Rick or post a photo. I'm pretty sure yours will be the Terrano Mav tho.

Brilliant, thank you. Barjo are good, Ive had cages from them before but are horrendously expensive, but the other one I haven't heard of.

Just found this site, and it says that their one for the T2, will also fit...

Isuzu Trooper LWB,
Outlander 08,
Shotgun Sport,
Shotgun SWB,
Shotgun LWB Dog,
VW Touran

Which might give you some other cars to search on. Not sure what a "Shotgun" is though, when I first read it, I thought it said shogun!

ask if rick can alter one for you :thumbs

Don't know the height of your cages but if there is enough room could a false floor not be fitted to the height of the wheel arches which would give you the extra width needs. You could then get some shallow storage boxes to slide under the false floor so you also have some storage in the boot:thumbs

The problem we have found with getting the ferret cages into the back of the T2, is that the door does not hinge out of the actual door opening, and the top of the door bends over the gap as well, greatly reducing the size of an object you can actually slide in. Not only that, but the roof curves down at the back, so there is an extra 4 or 5 inches above the door that you can not use easily either.

This means you need to fold the rear seats up, put the cage in length ways, and then have enough room at the sides to turn it round once inside the car, then lift the seats back up again, or make it so you can assemble the cage in situ in the back of the car.

That is another idea - cheers :thumb2

Don't forget to take into account access for your dogs. Jumping into the boot is about as high as I would want mine jumping safely.

I know room can be tight if putting large objects in the back but if the cages were to stop in permanently then folding down the back seat to get them in wouldn't really be an issue. Cages could also be bolted down to the false floor & the floor bolted to the securing points in the boot. This has been done in a SWB but it'll give you an idea of what i'm going on about https://plus.google.com/photos/1061...5332656731288292194&oid=106166290292654336924

I like that idea, Sweety - I'll do some measuring in the morning.

Jim - you are absolutely right; I am paranoid about joints etc, but when you consider that the lad, Hamish is taller than me (5'4'') when he stands on his hind legs - my head is on his chest lol. I also used to have a Sprinter for them and they were fine with that.

What breed of dogs do you have ? if your dogs don't like jumping or you don't want them jumping up you can buy or even make a folding ramp for them. I don't have this problem having a Jack Russell as she jumps straight up onto the drivers seat:augie
