Guys I may have the chance of a newer Terrano, do you think £900 is achievable for my '97 Maverick? still got 7 months mot and a months tax on it. I have seen some advertised on the bay at silly prices and others that look to cheap to be true. I think mine is in good nick and only has (nearly) 125 thousand on the clock.

Yes £900 is, But I'd be inclined to keep it and stay with it until it's no longer worth fixing yourself.

You could potentially get a bad vehicle with this new one. Better the devil you know and all that ;)

There is also the car tax issue cos after 2001 [I think] it goes on banding and I think its about £400 to tax them.

Over £400 after 2006, it's a bit dearer after 2001, but only something like £30.

Very good advice! And advice I think I am going to listen to, my Mav is a pretty solid old bus, most of the places it can rust have either not rusted yet or been sorted out apart from the front crossmember but going to cut it out and replace it next weekend.
