accelerator pedal issues

hello i was asking tother day about the rev counter problem i have ,now im getting a problem with the accelarator pedal sticking ,i know its fly by wire and the actual mechanics of the pedal are moving fine the cable in it but when i drive i can give a little acceleration and woof it does the rest itself as if on autopilot i tap it back to normal then i press again and dont gett no revs whats happening anyone know as i had this problem b4 when i first got the car and it only seems to happen when its very hot the weather ive sprayed with wd40 the area checked for loose wires but this problem seems to come and go when it pleases ,do you think a new accelerator unit would be best ideas please before i pull out whats left of my hair cheers:doh

WD40 in this case is a bad thing
Take the assy out and clean as best you can with contact cleaner. Some of them can be got at others are sealed. Pretty easy to get another from the scrappy though :thumbs

itll be the little box on top of the pedal. I would do what MakeIt suggests and remove the entire assembly and clean thouroughly, including the sensor, then try again, if it fails, off to the scrappers for a spare one!

use electrical contact cleaner....

took it out today cleaned all up but the fascinating thing i discovered was that the throttle pedal assembly has some sort of damper on the end consisting of a nut washer ,two discs and a spring type washer anyway this was causing my pedal to stick as i cleaned them all alied some high melt grease(only a film of it) and put back together but not as tight and hey presto, the hesitancy in the pedal has disapeared and to top it off ,the rev counters working and has not gone off once ,FIGURE THAT ??:nenau, BUT it seems thers more than just the throttle sensor in play here but also the mechanics of the pedal itself especially the damper,if u remember i said this mostly happened when the temperature outside got high ,metal expanding or something i dont know but thought i would share it with you all i took some pics as well will load them up cheers:bow
