hi all my abs was playing up so i went to take out and check the sensor to find it has broken in the hole were it sits the top part has completely sheered off now the question is can this bit be removed without stripping the full hub (drill and tap to make extractor bolt) or is it the long way around ??
also does anyone know the part number for the left front sensor there seems to be a massive price jump on ebay is this normal ?? and can i replace with a cheaper type
thanks in advance dave

If you have a selection of drill bits just get yourself started!
Think i went right up to 18mm when I drilled mine out.
Just be VERY careful you do not hit the ABS ring on the joint.
I scathed mine very slightly a couple of times and got away with it.
Can't remember how much I paid for a genuine Bosch, something like £80? would need to check...

i was worried about swarf and other debris that will fall in the hole or will it come out when moving or should i keep vac on it while doing it ??

you should of followed my recent thread.
they always break on removal.
and the chances are you could of saved your self 100 quid as you may have got around it with the replacement wire trick.

as for the prices on ebay yes they do vary massively.
I found the td sensor cheapest at 100 quid.the tdi 40 quid.
local motor factors wanted 100 quid and 80 quid.
your probably better buying one local. Its easier to return if theres ant issues

i have been looking at all the other threads on here and it would of been a nice easy fix it it was just the wire but i have only had the car a couple of weeks and i had suspicions about the sensor and on investigation it had already been butchered so i just needed to know the best place/price or part number for them and extraction info as i don't want to cause any further damage.
will the sensor from a newer model fit ? 2002-2006 (cheaper)
is it passive or active ? (not got it out yet so cant see the end)
is there a better manufacturer in them ?

I tried getting it out with the hub on . but I found it is quicker and easier to get it out after it's all taken off . you could spray gt85 or wd40 in the hole so it can soak it might help to loosen it and I got mine sensor from these guys http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/abs...hp_v4314_g412.html?search_toolbar_query=wheel speed sensor . its the bosch one numbered 0 265 006 670 it was the right one for my tdi . plus with it all out the way you might be able to knock it up or down to grap it

thanks for the info dave123 roughly how long did it take to strip the hub to access it and any problems while doing it ??

half hour . wheel off and the brake calliper and the calliper holder . then undo the Allen key bolts for the auto hub then slide that off. then take the circlip off the drive shaft . then remove the 2 washers and the cup . then there should be 2 screws undo them and remove the plate .then tap the ring anticlockwise to undo . then wiggle the disc free . that's it fit back in reverse downlosd this manual here it does help . http://f9x.co.uk/briggie/index.html

that sounds like a nice easy way i think i will remove the hub then as it will take longer messing around trying to drill it out without dropping any debris.i just need to get the sensor ordered now thanks again great info

Try gfscarparts.com

the problem is the one he needs is £163 with them . misterauto is £90 for a bosch one . I was looking for awhile before I choose them . I even went straight to bosch dealer in Exeter devon and the wanted £188 + vat .

The Bosch 1 said it was for 101bhp and wrong age so I went with another that I found for £90 but stated the correct year and 125bhp ill post and let everyone know if it's correct part etc thanks for getting me on right track thow

yeah but if I remember right it's the same bosch code what age is yours ? how I got the code was looked on here http://nissan4u.com/parts/terrano2/ for my car by age and all that then it will give you the part numbers . how did you get on getting the old broken bit out . they are a tight fit getting them back in . make sure the hole is clean of all the rust build up and then smear abit of oil around the new sensor and gently tap in . I used a wooden block and hit that with a hammer so I didn't damage the sensor . plus becarefull when you remove the brackets that hold the cable . the bolts tend to snap off . I left them on and opened up the bracket to get the cable out . it safes time drilling them out if they snap

i havent done it yet that is tomorrows job if it is dry and mine is a 2001 terrano 2 plus
i will post when i have done just hope all goes well with it and that is a good link i think that will come in handy for a few bits :)

Good luck with the repair, hope you don't have any problems.

I've just let the dogs out and it raining! I wanted to have a try a changing my drop links this morning.

The link is good, but how do you find parts costs?

Regards

Alan
