Any one had this? ABS light came on whilst returning from town when I pulled up at home and turned off the engine I could hear what sounded like a grinder/drill in the distance but turned out to be the ABS pump making the noise even with no keys in the ignition!

Disconnected battery and multi plug from pump then reconnected and all was fine.
Just hedging my bets as I'm sure it will likely develop into an issue further down the line.

On another note just fitted cooper STT pro 30 9.5 15 with 30mm spacers on standard suspension set up no surgery required.
They look great and cost just over £110 each delivered plus £10 balanced and fitted at Mintro.
Makes me smile every time I see it!!!!

ABS Pump

That is well odd I know nothing about ABS systems except that they can be troublesome on some vehicles.

Some vehicles have brake lights that function without a key in the ignition this means there is power at the brake light switch that often has multifunctional connections to ABS/stablity controls/wheel sensors. (e.g. some Smart Cars).

On older Mercs the ABS relay can fault causing the pump to run on, removing the ABS relay used to put out the ABS function and you just had normal brakes. Problem was that when you put the ignition on the ABS test light sequence would start and put the light on again so it was an MoT fail.

Got a spare pump here if needed but check electrical plugs first for pesky green and white corrosion on metal contacts

Thank you both for the replies. All is well at present and just gone through mot and only needed a front outer cv boot.
If it becomes an issue with the pump I'll contact you Banshee, cheers.

On another note can anyone suggest a quality catch can for the terrano. I have oil in the pipe from the blowby control valve to the turbo which is making its way into the inter cooler.
There are so many on the market but want one that has a drain spigot in the bottom so I can T it back in to the return pipe to the sump.
Also should I go baffled or unbaffled that is the question.
Any advice or suggestions are most welcome
