abs light

Guys iv got an intemitant abs light that comes on.. when the cars cold only been driving a short while the lights off.. then after a while bingo its on 1 any ideas?

I have the same thing on my polo. Put it into the garage and as it is intermitent they could not find the fault:nenau:nenau they took the wheels off and cleaned up the sensors and it has gone off now.
May be the same or one of the sensors breaking down. Just a thought:thumbs

for some unexplained reason, its the nearside front sensor thats problematic, had the same problem, the wires break off which sounds like yours is just starting to chafe. they are easily repaired in situ, but would advise against tring to remove the sensor as they are probably rusted solid. do a search on the topic, you will find exactly how to do it, been covered on here quite a bit.

i repaired the wire on my old tdi as i had the same problems.
not too hard a job if you can solder as you have to solder the new wire onto the old ones as near to the sensor as possible and the same on the other end near the plug.
there is an old post that explains the repair in detail.

especially since getting the garage to replace it is horrendously expensive...around £100 three years ago when I had it done...
