well there was some vibration in the brake peddle today and felt like abs was kicking in was only doing around 7mph anyhoo noticed a bit later on the abs light is on now, any ideas before i start hitting things with hammers?

Check all the plugs on sensors, unplug the plug into pump unit too, give em a spray with electrical cleaner

Could be some shit on a tone ring would be my next point of call

Can u get the codes off it ?

Prob front sensor good luck trying to remove one:lol i think you can test them 1st though should be resistance of some sort between the 2 wires.Rear ones are easy to remove but rarely go wrong:doh

its gone off again now :nenau

A consult tool will tell u fault codes for abs

There is a similar ABS fault on mine which does not show up any fault codes. I've been trying to sort it out for years. I've spent £££££s and hours and hours on it but still can't get that dashboard light out - it's an intermittent one too :banghead

Getting closer to the MOT I realised it wouldn't pass and the truck would have to come off the road even tho the ABS is working. A few days before the MOT it went out :clap and a week after the MOT it came back on :doh - now it's on all the time and I don't think I'll be so luck next time.

A common fault for some reason is the NSF sensor cable that breaks, usually in the area of the clamp that holds it to the suspension arm. Mine had been poorly repaired by the dealer so when it went again I had a really fiddly job to fix it. Saw a cheap brand new sensor on fleabay a while ago so got it cheap and ready for it going again.

I guess you could unplug each one in turn and go for a test drive to see if it makes any difference. May help you identify which one if any is faulty.

I'd just take the pump off, then pipe it out. You could then open dash panel and remove bulb, or blank it.

It would pass mot then, and abs is pants anyhow

I was thinking about doing this for a while, as my abs was so sensitive and kicked in all the time, but I have since found it was due to my front left caliper seized so brake was locking up very easily

Yes ur right bout the sensor lead but u can't just unplug 1at a time as the ecu will see a fault with the sensor u just unpluged and light will come on straight away even if that sensor is ok:doh ad said before check resistance while some1 moves the lead it migjt show up the broken wire if it has 1 also jack up the wheel turn meter on to volts u might get a voltage reading with a good quality meter will be very small reading but thats what the ecu is looking for also could be sh*t on the pick up ring on the front drive shaft hope u sort it out and hope this is helpful:thumbs

I jacked it up a year ago, spun each wheel and had a waveform on the oscilloscope on every sensor. The ABS dash warning light is intermittent so it is very frustrating.
It may be as you said a broken wire - but knowing my luck its a bad connection / break which isn't keen to give its self away.

Thats y u get some1 to wiggle the sensor while u test for resistant and for voltage:thumbs

have done the wire repair on one of my earlier terranos as that had an intermittant fault.
took about an hour start to finish and that solved my problem.
hardest part was soldering the wires back together.
