A couple of days ago the abs light came on and stayed on for the whole of my trip home. next time started the engine,no light . The next day the same thing happened, but not since, ?
However now I have noticed a increasing propensity for the front wheels to try to lock up , even under quite moderate breaking. But the abs dose kick in
The tyres are new but the rear shoes could be worn.

Thoughts ?

The classic fault is the wire breaking near to the sensor on one of the front wheels.
The nature of the fracture in the wire can mean it will be intermittent.
They are sometimes repairable, but normally a job that has to be done on the vehicle as removing the sensor without breaking it is nigh on impossible!

does your 2000 model have the old grey 14 pin socket or the new 16 pin ?

If you earth pin 4 it will tell you the ABS fault Code
